6 Reasons to Try CBD Edibles

If you are thinking about incorporating CBD into your health regime there is an array of ways that you can take it. You might like vaping or CBD drops, but one of the most fun and interesting ways to take it is through edibles.

Of course, each delivery method has its pros and cons, but CBD edibles are growing in popularity for people who take CBD at home, but also in the emergence of CBD products which can be bought out and about.

Why Take CBD?

what is CBD – or cannabidiol is one of over 100 natural compounds which are present in the cannabis plant. It can be extracted along with other compounds – cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes – and taken to help to give our health and well-being a lift.

Although CBD is found in the cannabis plant, it won’t give you the high feeling that is associated normally with it. The compound that gives this high is THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), and although they are both very similar, and CBD can make you feel a bit calmer and relaxed, it doesn’t make you feel high or stoned.

CBD is a cannabinoid which can interact with the endocannabinoid system in the human body. The endocannabinoid system was only discovered in the 1990s and so in terms of research, everything is still in its infancy.

Scientists have found that the endocannabinoid system consists of cannabinoid receptors and endocannabinoids which interact with each other to ensure that the body stays in a perfect state of balance – called homeostasis. CBD is a cannabinoid which acts in a similar way to the endocannabinoids when it is taken.

When the levels of endocannabinoids are low, it can lead to health problems, and scientists believe that cannabinoids like CBD can help to raise levels in the endocannabinoid system and help it to start working properly again when they are taken.

There is, of course, still a lot of research which needs to be carried out, but it is believed that CBD can help with a number of health problems, including:

• Mood – anxiety, and depression

• Pain relief •

Inflammation

• Reducing some epileptic seizures

• Nausea

• Skin problems like psoriasis and acne

Why CBD Edibles?

CBD edibles are a fun way to take CBD. However, there is more to it than that.

1. Longer Lasting

Firstly, unlike vaping or CBD oil drops, edibles are ingested through the digestion system. This means that it takes the CBD longer to get absorbed into the system, but once that it is in your blood, it will stay in there for longer. For example, CBD will usually take up to about 2 hours to start working, but it will stay in your system for up to about 8 hours. This means that you can take it at the beginning of the day and have a base of CBD in your bloodstream for hours. You can work it into your routine and take it at the same time as vitamins or other food supplements so that you don’t forget.

2. It can be topped up

Some people who use CBD edibles use them as a base for the day. If, for example, they are suffering from chronic pain, they can use the CBD through edibles for a base and then vape or use CBD oil drops for quicker pain relief whenever they need it. This will give you flexibility over how much CBD you take and when.

3. They can taste nice

It is no secret that some people find the taste of CBD unpleasant. It’s ‘grassy’ or ‘green’ flavor is an ‘acquired’ taste and by taking CBD either through capsules or CBD infused food, you can disguise this flavor. There are increasing amounts of CBD oils which are flavored to cover up the taste of CBD, but CBD edibles disguise the flavors much better. Whether you prefer CBD chocolate, gummies or even tea, there is a wide range of different edibles to suit any tastes.

4. CBD edibles will give you an accurate dose

One of the best things about taking your CBD through edibles is that you know exactly what dose you are taking. Unlike vaping or even drops, where there is the possibility of miscalculation or taking too much or too little by accident, with an edible, you know exactly how much you have eaten or taken. Of course, doses can be adapted according to the strength of edible or capsule or the amount or number that is taken.

It is recommended that you take CBD in small doses and work your way up until you feel that you have found the right dose for you. Even though no-one has ever died from a CBD overdose, it will become less effective, the more that you take.

5. CBD edibles can give you flexibility

CBD edibles come in all shapes and sizes, flavors and textures. We are currently seeing an emergence of everything CBD, including baked goods, sauces, sweets, drinks, and even beer. You can find coffee shops offering CBD coffee – coffee with a shot of CBD added – and even CBD guacamole to continue the trend!

With such an abundance of CBD products around, you firstly have a lot more flexibility about how you take your CBD, but also enjoy the fact that taboos are being broken down and now, taking CBD is universally accepted in society.

6. You can make your own edibles

If you take a specific dosage which is not easy to get hold of, you also have the option of creating your own edibles. You can buy the capsule encasing and add CBD oil to it or use the oil to add to food through baking or cooking for a more interesting way of getting your daily dose.

If you are thinking of trying CBD edibles, it is important that you speak to your doctor before you start, especially if you are on medication. CBD can change the way that your body deals with medication, and although it is safe to use, non-addictive and has no bad side effects, it can have a huge impact on the effectiveness of some medication.

CBD edibles are a great way to start with CBD as long as you take it in small doses. It gives you accurate dosing and is easy to do, so if you are looking for a new way to get your CBD each day, why not give edibles a go?
